SANDS

We believe that the best way for Halcrow to develop SANDS is to understand our customers needs. We want to meet your needs now and in the future. With this in mind we have created the Ideas Lab which allows all of us to be closer to the creative side of driving forward SANDS. The goal is for you to tell Halcrow what features should be within SANDS. We hope this site fosters a candid and robust conversation about your ideas. Our commitment is to listen to your ideas and to implement the best ones. We will keep you posted on how the ideas are being implemented in SANDS.

Summary table of beach gradient, beach crest level and width

Published on 06/02/2012 at 16:35 by TrimL

Production of a summary table containing beach gradient, beach crest level and width (perhaps with method for changing definition of beach crest, i.e., highest section where beach crest >3m wide, etc) for each survey. Inclusion of volume / CSA information would also be useful. Present an overall summary of beach change.

Comments:

Sean commented: Presumably the beach gradient would be calculated between the beach/tide levels as in the original profile analysis with ...

Merging of beach and bathy cross sections

Published on 06/02/2012 at 16:20 by TrimL

Merging of beach survey cross section data and cross section for same cross section derived from bathy data. To produce one continuous beach cross section for volume analysis / beach design.

Allow movement on profile origins and automatic re-projection of data

Published on 10/01/2012 at 13:04 by rob

Allows the simple adjustment of existing surveyed data to be re-aligned to new/future profile origins E.g. where profile origins have been moved back inland along the profile line (due to erosion)

Inclusion of a Hindcasting model

Published on 10/01/2012 at 13:04 by rob

To facilitate the generation of locally generated (wind) wave data from wind records and fetch lengths.

Tidal Window calculator

Published on 10/01/2012 at 13:03 by rob

Calculates the duration that a water level falls above/below a given threshold. Of value to users wanting to calculate periods of inaccessibility/accessibility due to tidal levels, downtime and/or navigational purposes.

Storing of probability analysis and extremes analysis

Published on 10/01/2012 at 13:01 by rob

This would allow users to retain results from probability analysis and extremes analysis and allow them to be used for future reference and further analysis.

Generating mosaics

Published on 10/01/2012 at 13:00 by rob

The creation of raster images and grids into a single layer using TatukGIS Pixelstore technology. This facility would offer various efficiencies in the form of faster mapping and reduction in number of mapping layers.

3D data manager

Creation and analysis of surfaces, for example bathymetries. Also including visualisation, comparisons and contouring of data.
