The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Communications entrusted the investigation and preparation of the report to the London based firm of consulting engineers Sir William Halcrow and Partners.

Produced by Roger Cherrill Associates Ltd for Halcrow and Archirodon S.A. – 1973

With expanding international trade as well as the perennial traffic of it's holy pilgrimage Jeddah's port facilities were proving inadequate, leading to delay and damage.

In 1964, recognising the country's need for a modern port, King Faisal ordered a feasibility study and plan for the development of the Port of Jeddah.

Halcrow was responsible for the planning, design and construction supervision.

Today Halcrow continues to support the port’s development by increasing its capacity and enhancing its capability, helping Jeddah Islamic Port become an engine of growth for Saudi Arabia’s economy.
