The Heathrow Express service is the fastest, most direct mode of travel between Heathrow Airport and central London.
With four express trains and two stopping trains running every hour, the railway transports nearly 15,000 passengers each day – just over five million a year. In its ten years of operation, it has become one of the UK’s most iconic transport brands.
Halcrow plays a leading role in delivering this service and is a senior advisor in the implementation of two key business drivers: asset management and supply chain management.
We help ensure Heathrow Express’s assets operate as effectively as possible, enabling it to strike a balance between the interests of customers, employees and the business.
Halcrow’s strong performance is further reinforced by its involvement in the extension to Heathrow Terminal 5, which effectively doubled Heathrow Express’s asset base. It is also reflected in the myriad undertakings we contribute towards; from simple benchmarking exercises to complex asset assimilation. More recently we helped deliver an e-ticketing programme to meet statutory requirements.
Halcrow’s approach links asset management and financial functions to present an accurate picture of depreciation and pre-agreed risk profiles. Our innovative life cycle asset management model provides a comprehensive evaluation of capital expenditure based on an informed, technical view of asset life and replacement strategies.
Our input helped Heathrow Express achieve its rigorous punctuality and reliability performance targets, leading to an overall satisfaction rate of 96 per cent in the UK’s independent national passenger satisfaction survey – the highest score in the survey’s eight-year history.
